London to Brighton, the highs and lows

Sunday morning started much the same as any other, with the alarm being altogether a little silent. Following a little bleary eyed investigation it became apparent that yet again my iPhone battery was indeed dead! leaving us with a mere 10 minutes to get to our 7:30am start, 10 miles away. In what could only be described as a sprint from Shoreditch to the start line in Clapham we managed to secure ourselves a replacement return travel option (ours fell through due to fathers day) before lining up for the off!

Eventually we got out of the blocks at 8:30 leaving us with some serious time to make up and some even more serious traffic to contend with. 20 miles in and we had just about broke free of the crowds so we settled into a solid pace and ripped through a good 30 miles. The 250m ascent of Ditchling Beacon defeated both of us yet again but we’ll be back next year with specific hill climb training to conquer the almighty final slope. We crossed the line at approximately 14:30 with the sun on our backs!

We’d like to say a big thank you for all the support, especially Alessandra Prati, Grapevine Digital, Want Work & all our friends and family. We only managed to raise £155, but in these tough economic times every little helps. We have decided to double this sum from our own pockets bringing the total to £310.00.
